Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
The Certified Nursing Assistant Training program prepares students to take the Arizona Board of Nursing exam and receive their Certified Nursing Assistant License. Medstar Academy offers a six-week, hands-on training program that focuses on preparing students to take the Arizona Board of Nursing exam.

Cash/Credit Paying Students
Tuition includes scrub set, gait belt, blood pressure cuff/stethoscope.
Payment Options for Cash/Credit Paying Students :
Payment Plan — Pay registration fee of $250 upfront at the time of enrollment and then make either three biweekly payments or four biweekly payments. You may also put the entire program cost on a credit card. This will allow you to pay for your classes over an extended period of time.
All payments must be completed prior to the student being scheduled for clinicals.
Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA)
For students wishing to become Licensed Nursing Assistants or LNAs, no additional training is required. The student must pay an additional $50 for completing an application for LNA and an additional $50 for a background check. The student makes the application on the State Board website and pays directly.
CNA Training Program Requirements
Certified Nursing Assistant students must meet the following requirements to enter the program:
- Must be at least sixteen years of age
- Pass an admissions test
- Provide proof of Citizenship — Arizona State ID, Arizona Drivers License, or US Passport
- Social Security card
- Pass a 10-panel drug test (
- TB test within six months
- Medical clearance from doctor
- No felony convictions in past 3 years – A.R.S Sections 32-1606(B)(17) and 1646(B)
Students must meet the following requirements prior to entering the off-site clinicals:
- Arizona DPS fingerprint clearance card
- Basic Life Support certification
- No outstanding payments
Medstar Academy CNA Training Program Hours
- Classroom education and skills lab — 80 Hours
- Clinical requirements — 40 Hours
- Five days of clinicals are from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM for both day and evening classes
- Open Lab Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Students may come in during these times to practice their CNA skills. Students are asked to call the student services office before coming in to make sure State testing is not going on.
