What do Medical Assistants do?
A Medical Assistant is expected to:- Greet patients, collect medical information and report to the provider
- Prepare the patient before the provider sees the patient
- Manages communications with patients, doctors, and other medical departments
- Maintains compliance with all state and federal regulations
- Bookkeeping, schedules appointments and processes financials and insurance claims
- Handling and transcribing medical records, prescriptions and give medications as directed by provider
- Draws blood, gives injections, completes EKGs on patients and educate patients as needed
- Assist provider with various treatments and collects specimens for laboratory testing
- Measure patients' vital signs, such as blood pressure, weight, height, respirations and conduct assessments
- Fluency with electronic medical records, computer applications and may work in specialized offices
- Perform Clinical and Administrative task, such as answer phones, verification processes and documentation
